Valéria Paye
Valéria Paye Pereira, from the Tiriyó and Kaxuyana people of Tumucumaque Indigenous Park in Pará and Amapá, Brazil, graduated in Social Sciences from UnB in 2017. In 2008, she became the first indigenous woman to coordinate COIAB’s Representation in Brasília, facilitating dialogue with government bodies, the National Congress, and civil society. She co-founded the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB) and organized several Indigenous Free Land Camps. In October 2020, she was appointed Executive Director of Podáali – the Indigenous Fund of the Brazilian Amazon.
